- an historic village in a beautiful setting, at the head of Loch Tay, and in the shadow of Perthshire's highest mountain - Ben Lawers (1,214m). Killin is almost at the exact centre of Scotland, and is surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of Breadalbane - Scotland's 'High Country'.
Killin was the stronghold of the MacNabs and latterly the Breadalbane Campbells, at the time when power in Scotland was in the hands of the clans.
This
is the setting for Breadalbane Folklore Centre - where the history
of the area is re-told for today's visitor. The giant waterwheel
which powered the mill in the days when meal was ground and tweed
was woven here - still turns today, a living testament to how the
natural power of water was harnessed in Breadalbane for centuries.
You are invited to visit Breadalbane Folklore Centre and discover the story of Scotland's 'High Country'.
